Sqwirlz Founder
As with most squirrel mamas, I found myself being
adopted, rather than DOING the adopting, one lovely spring morning. I was
sitting on my patio, enjoying a nice cup of coffee one morning, minding my own
business, I might add, and two boisterous little boys chose that moment to enter
my life. The subsequent chain of “nutty” events has led me here.
The goal in this site is not to compete with existing sites, such as Clarissa’s
Squirrel Nutrition and Care (without which I could never have succeeded –
Clarissa has been a patient and kind mentor who has seen me through the laughter
and tears that go with working with these fabulous creatures) as one cannot
enhance the perfection of common-sense, but to fill in some gaps on the web by
compiling scattered information into a site that is informative from a nature
standpoint and fun for both children and adults, as well as a common-sense
practical resource for squirrel parents. Without humor, well, life can be rather
dull, don’t you think?
I am blessed to be a country-born Virgo. An
attention to detail coupled with farm-sense has served me well in both the
professional workplace - I was in government for 15 years - and in my work with
squirrels. I am now at home due to health concerns but have consequently found
myself as busy as ever, doing something I love!!
I recently read that the squirrel is one of three animal totems for Virgo.
“Touching it!” being the operative theme, it reads:
| Squirrel: The bushy, furry-tailed little squirrel is as efficient and detail-oriented as the Virgo sign that rules it. A workaholic at heart, she scurries around looking for food and nesting materials and then back again to look for some more. Organized and resourceful, the squirrel knows what she needs and remembers just where she put it, again, a trait that is familiar to its human counterpart as well. It is these symbolic attributes that can inspire one to develop habits of frugality and prudence and see life with an inquisitive and curious slant. |
